Vivisimo was named to the EContent 100, EContent magazine’s eighth annual list of “companies that matter most in the digital content industry.” The list was published in the December issue. This is the sixth consecutive year Vivisimo was recognized among industry leaders in the search engines & technologies category by EContent ( http://www.econtentmag.com). Recommind has announced that Littler Mendelson has selected Recommind’s MindServer(TM) platform to power its SharePoint portal search. Designed to help law firms quickly and accurately identify, retrieve and share information from internal and external sources across disparate offices, MindServer Enterprise Search and Matters & Expertise is being integrated with SharePoint portal and deployed as part of company-wide initiative to enhance the Littler Mendelson’s knowledge management resources. The Recommind implementation will provide the employment litigation firm’s more than 750 attorneys across 45 offices with one centralized location to securely and accurately access their valuable information.
Google Inc. has upgraded its Mini enterprise search tool, including new capabilities to improve the relevance of results and extend the reach of the product. The Mini is Google’s lower end search appliance for firms looking to search up to 300,000 documents. The latest version includes the ability to search files and documents stored on shared drives, and support for six more languages - Basque, Catalan, Galician, Greek, Hungarian, and Polish. Google Mini also features new technology which allows users to sort results by date or source.
Google has begun experimenting with a new cross-language ability for its Search Appliance, a server customers can use to power their in-house search service. SIP Print, the creators of the first affordable SIP-based VoIP call recording platform, has announced the launch of its newly established channel partner program. The SIP Print Partner Program (SIPPPP) is designed to provide partners with high margins, and features simplicity and ease-of-entry for telephony resellers and data VARS that primarily serve small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The program aims to simplify selling SIP Print’s VoIP call recording appliances in combination with IP-based phone systems. As a channel-focused organization, SIP Print does not sell direct or through small business solutions in retail outlets.
A study conducted by AIIM in May has found that enterprise search still lags behind consumer-oriented search when it comes to helping people find the information they need inside the firewall. However, it was found that enterprise employees may have unreasonable expectations based on their experiences on the consumer web. As Carl Frappaolo, VP at AIIM points out, part of the problem is that information is spread out across the enterprise. “As the volume of information has increased, the pain of finding enterprise information has increased and now encompasses the need to search and access across the digital landfill of file servers, e-mail inboxes, digital desktops, and content management systems. Despite the advances made in search on the Web, enterprise search leaves most users frustrated.”
